Entering the Promised Land in Life

Joshua 1:1-19, 2nd Kings 2:1-25

See what God promised Joshua: (He is doing so to you now).

  • “I will give the land”
  • “No one will be able to stand before you, as you occupy…”
  • “I will never leave you nor forsake you”

God gave Joshua conditions – these apply to you today:

  • You must step in:
    • Every place the sole of your feet will tread upon, I have given you. (Verse 3)
  • You must arise:
    • Arise, you and all these people, cross over Jordan, to the land that I’m giving… (Verse 2)
  • Vision of extent of the inheritance.
  • “From Lebanon, Euphrates to the great sea, towards going down of the sun shall be your territory.” (Verse 4)
  • “Be strong and very courageous” (Verse 7)
  • “Observe carefully to obey what I have commanded.” (Verse 7)
  • Observe to do what the book of the law says: “It is the secret of your success and prosperity.”(Verse 8)

Possible Barriers to the Inheritance that we must overcome:

  1. Natural and personal handicaps. (Joshua 3:14,16,17)
  2. Human and demonic opposition. Use the NAME OF CHRIST, His BLOOD, pray deeply.
  3. Human sin – Persons who are likely to disobey and compromise. (Joshua 7:7)
  4. Making decisions without seeking the counsel of God.

What you need to inherit to occupy.

  • Renewed mind, knowing the will of God in a clear way. Romans 12:1-3
  • Truth of promises of God-see the promise and what God says after you have fulfilled the
    promise.
  • Leave the old mind set, ways, failures and programs.
Read Isaiah 42:9, 43:19, “Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them”.
    Isaiah 43:19
“Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make
a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert”.
    Ephesians 4:21-23
“If indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus; that you
put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the
deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man
which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness”.
  • Make clear decisions of life.
2 Kings 7:2-3 “So an officer on whose hand of the king leaned answered the man of God and said, “Look, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, could this thing be? And he said, “Infact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it”. Now there were four
leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another; Why are we sitting here
    until we die?
  • Listen to the Spirit of God, Who is inside your heart Acts 13: 2-3
  • See the Light of God ahead of you, open up completely
    Read John 4:25-42
How Samaritan woman opened up until she received prophecy and
    deliverance from Christ
  • Clear your Faith: See how Abram cleared his faith in the issue of the promise. God
promised great things but Abraham had no son.
    Genesis 15: 2-6
“The Lord is my strength and song; And he has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him. The LORD is a man of war; The LORD is His name. Pharaoh’s chariots and his army He has cast into the sea; His chosen captains also are drowned in the Red Sea. The depths have covered them; They sent to the bottom like a stone. Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power”.
  • Overcome laziness in your mind and your body.
    Ephesians 5:14-15
“ Therefore He says; “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light”. See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise”.
Arise and obey God – obey strictly and carefully.
    Genesis 13:14-17
“Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. He
divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus. So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him at the Valley of Shaveh (that is, the King’s Valley), after his return from the defeat of Chedorlaomer and thekings who were with him”.
  • Stand before God, claim your deliverance, God position of prosperity like Jabez
    1 Chronicles 4:9-10
“ Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother called his name Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him in pain, And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain! So God granted him what he requested”.
  • Attain your gift and talent in life or after salvation early enough -do not spoil your mind and body.
  • Avoid being late in your plans or your programs, avoid crisis, avoid procrastination (Postponing)
  • Overcome
    (I) Being unworthy
    (ii) Misunderstanding in life.
(iii) Mixing Gods will with opinions of people.

As you press on:

  • You will notice the following.
  • Gap reduces – you set closer to glory and fulfillment.
  • You gain strength and become and over comer.
  • You are able to proof your faith in God.
  • You get to the side of impartation like Elisha

Read 2nd Kings 2: 8-10

  • Be there (Avoid missing) like Elisha:
Be there when mantle is proofed
    2 Kings 2:8
“Now Elijah took his mantle, rolled it up, and struck the water; and it was divided this way and that, so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground”.
  • Be there when the mantle is left.
    2nd Kings 2:11
  • Take Faith and proof the mantle by yourself (Press on until gift and real call start working)
    2nd Kings 2:13
“He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had falled from him; and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan”.
  • See how God directed Jeremiah in his call.
    Jeremiah 1:1-12
  • God said powerful final words
    “I knew you”
    “I choose you”
“Do not say you are a youth”
    “You shall go”
“ You shall say what I command”
    “Do not be afraid”
“ I’m with you to deliver you”
“ I have put my words in your mouth”
“I have now set you as a prophet above people”
“I’m ready to perform my word”.
